Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal: Jack Birch Case Study

In 2019 VCAT conducted a Victorian-first pilot of online dispute resolution (ODR), funded by the Department of Justice and Regulation. They targeted cases involving small business owners, testing whether ODR could improve access to justice for people involved in disputes about goods and services worth under $10,000.

We created several two key to showcase recommendations made to the Access to Justice review.

  • Documentary on the project, including interviews with key personnel on the process and findings

  • “Future reality case study'“ featuring fictional business owner Jack Birch, who had been referred to throughout the process

Watch the case study here.

“Hannah's ability to look beyond the basic words of a brief and bring ideas to life helped   articulate a preferred reality and powerful case study-style learning experience, which has been shared with renowned international audiences via the Global Project Management Institute (as the winner of the 2019 Global Project Excellence Award), Harvard Law School, MIT Design Lab and Boston Legal Hackers, as well as a domestic Australian audience across government, academia and courts and tribunals.”
