Bridging the Skills Gap
March 2026
In 2025, I travelled across Australia for the Manufacturing Industry Skills Alliance (MISA) project Bridging the Skills Gap: Best Practice Case Studies — a national initiative to facilitate knowledge sharing about innovative approaches to workforce development in the manufacturing sector.
The project was a partnership with Parachute Education Consultants, who developed the written case studies. My role was to produce the video component: to introduce the people, bring the settings to life, and show best practice in action.
Working with brilliant local crews in every state, I visited small and medium businesses and training organisations. I enjoyed speaking with people about what they valued in their workplace culture and their workforce. I met plenty of young people who had found their calling, with women increasingly well represented across all roles.
There was real optimism — a sense of pride in local expertise and confidence in the industry's future.
The full case studies are available on the MISA website.
